2009-2010

The 91st American Legion Convention was held at Duluth, GA on June 26-28, 2009. Cecil Holloway, Jim Whelan, Denise Morgan, Mo Barnett and
Ruben Scott attended. The Legion received an ''Appreciation Award'' for blood donor. The Commander received award for the ''Outstanding Squadron''
of the year for 192.

July 1st the Legion Family donated money for food for 35 wounded warriors for a fishing tournament. July 2nd the Legion Riders of Post 192 attended
the Biker Show at the Fort Gordon July 4th celebration. They had 33 riders to attend. On July 3rd the Legion Riders were in a Flag Line for a funeral for
LTC Lowell Baltzell at St. Mary's Church. They were Ed and Jan Beckman, George and Cindy Guthrie, Paul and Toni Knox, Andy Jenkins, Yolanda
Markham, Alan Marberry, Joe Padgett, Dennis, Dupris, Julie Benton and Ed Skelley. They lead the funeral as escort to the graveside. July 6th
Cecil Holloway, Denise Morgan, Robert Pollard and James Whelan attended the installation of Post 94 at Sandersville. July 9th h Denise Morgan,
Arnold Stein, James Whelan and Cecil Holloway attended the 11th District board meeting at Post 205. July 11th the installation of officers
were held at the Post. The Dept. of GA Adjutant Charlie Knox installed the Legion. Rob ''Sarge'' Robinson the Dept. of GA Asst. Director for
the Riders installed the Legion Riders. Jim Hussey installed Squadron 192. They had 94 to attend installation. July 12th Ruben Scott,
Arnold Stein, Jim Nelson and James Whelan attended the installation of Post 178. July 13th the Legion Family hosted an outing for 42 veterans
at the Post. The cost was $450.00.

July 15th the Legion Family hosted 22 wounded warriors from the Uptown VA at the Post for fishing and lunch. The cost was $250.00. July 18th
Arnold Stein, Paul Knox, Denise Morgan and James Whelan attended the installation of Post 194. July 19th Arnold Stein, Jim Nelson, Paul Knox
and James Whelan attended the installation of Post 505. July 20th the Legion Family hosted GA War Nursing Home 16 veterans at Post for fishing
and lunch. The cost was $250.00. The Legion Family hosted the MICHMC group of 15 veterans at Post for lunch and fishing on July 21st. The cost
was $200.00. July 23rd Arnold Stein, Jim Whelan, Jim Nelson and Bill Nicholas sponsored the Uptown VA bingo for 55 veterans. The cost was
$170.00. July 29th Arnold Stein and Jim Nelson attended the Great American cookout at Uptown VA. They served over 250 veterans hotdog, hamburger,
chips and watermelon. The Legion Family gave $3500.00 for the children's playground.

August 8th the Legion Family sponsored the juniors and ''Little Sons'' awards banquet at the Post. They had 121 guests at it. The cost of the event
was $2125.00. August 10th the Legion Family sponsored an outing for 45 veterans from Uptown VA at the Post for fishing playing cards and pool.
The cost of the event with lunch was $500.00. The American Legion Riders celebrated their one-year on August 13th at their membership meeting at
the Post. They had 28 members to attend the meeting. They gave $600.00 to the children's playground. They gave $1000.00 for Dept. of GA riders
veterans project. August 17th Jim Nelson carried 60 gallons of drink tabs and 52 boxes of zip lock bags to the Ronald Macdonald House. The Legion
Family hosted on August 18th lunch and fishing outing for 21 veterans from the mental health group from Uptown VA. The cost was $175.00.

Karen Ann Amster attended the ceremony for 9/11 on September 11th at the Columbia County Courthouse Arnold Stein, Jim Nelson, James Whelan,
Denise Morgan, Paul Knox, Bob Pollard and Richard Cowan attended the District meeting at Post 63 on September 13th. The Legion Family donated
$75.00 worth of items for the Fisher House. September 14th the Legion Family hosted an outing for 42 veterans at the Post from Uptown VA. The
cost was $350.00. They had 9 members to participate in it. September 15th the Legion family hosted an outing for the mental health group and
nursing home. They had 32 veterans to attend and 9 members to help with it. The cost was $350.00. Jim Nelson, Jim Hussey and 17 Legion riders
attended the POW/MIA ceremony at Fort Gordon on September 18th. The Post held a POW/MIA ceremony on September 18th. They had 45 to attend the
ceremony. On September the 20th the Post hosted a flu shot clinic. On September 22nd Cecil Holloway, Bill Nicholas, Jim Whelan, Arnold Stein
and Jim Nelson visited Cedar Ridge Elementary School to present banners, flag pins, pledge cards, ribbons and flag displays to them They also
presented rules for the ''Americanism'' contest. On September 24th Arnold Stein, Jim Nelson, Jim Whelan and Bill Nicholas attended the monthly
Uptown VA bingo and served 50 veterans. The cost was $150.00. The Legion Family collected $150.00 for the American Heart walk on September 26th.
They had 3 members to walk in it. The Legion Family held their Fall Golf Tournament on September 27th. They had 133 golfers and 42 volunteers.

The Legion Family hosted a fishing outing on October 1st for 17 wounded warriors from the Uptown VA. The cost was $250.00. October 17th the Legion
Family hosted the annual Fall Carnival for 68 children even in the rain. The cost was $2500.00 The Columbia County Sheriff Dept. came out and
fingerprinting the children. The Columbia County Fire Dept. came out to give tips on fire safety. The Gold Cross Ambulance Service came out to
give emergency safety tips to the children. The Legion Family sponsored a Sheppard Mobile blood drive also that day. The children donated drink
cans to the Fire Dept. for the burn unit. October 19th GA War Nursing Home came out for lunch with 20 veterans. The cost was $200.00. October 20th
the mental health unit form the Uptown VA came out for lunch and fishing. There were 30 veterans to attend it. The cost was $300.00. Jim Whelan,
Bill Nicholas, Arnold Stein and Jim Nelson attended the monthly bingo at Uptown on October 22nd for 60 veterans. The Legion Family donated $450.00
for an active duty warrior at Fort Gordon that lost his house and household furnishings in a fire. October 23-25 Jim Whelan, Jim Nelson, Arnold Stein,
Denise Morgan, Cecil Holloway, Bob Pollard and Jim Hussey attended the Dept. of GA Fall Conference at Windy Hill. The Legion Family donated $100.00
to help restore the World War 1 monument. October 28th Jim Nelson, Harry Rowland, Karenann Amster and Arnold Stein attended the Halloween Party at
Uptown VA for 250 veterans. The Legion Family gave $100.00 in pies for it. October 29th Arnold Stein, Karenann Amster, Harry Rowland and Jim Nelson
attended the Chaplain's luncheon at the Uptown VA. The Legion Family donated $100.00 to the chaplain services. The Legion Family donated $75.00 worth
of cupcakes for the GA War Nursing Home Halloween party on October 30th.

November 9th the Uptown VA came out for lunch and outing. The cost was $300.00 for 48 veterans. Harry Rowland, Jim Nelson, Oral Venable, Cecil Holloway,
Arnold Stein and Jim Whelan helped with event. The Veteran's Day events were rained out on November 11th. The auxiliary and sons sponsored a
dinner at the Post for 98 veterans from our Post on November 11th. November 17th the Post hosted an outing for 24 veterans. November 21st the
Legion Family packed 22 Thanksgiving baskets for the needy. The cost was $950.00. The Legion Family had 62 to attend the Thanksgiving dinner
at the Post. Jim Nelson, Bill Nicholas, Arnold Stein and Bill Hackley helped with the setting up of the Auxiliary Christmas Gift Shop at
Uptown VA on November 27th.

The Legion Family donated $1000.00 to the Commander's Special project on December 11th to Dept. Commander Henry Adams. Arnold Stein, Jim Whelan,
Bob Pollard, Jim Nelson, Cecil Holloway and Denise Morgan attended the District meeting at Post 205, On December 13th. December 14th the
family hosted Christmas party for 100 veterans from the Uptown VA. The cost was $1700.00. The family sponsored Christmas party for 350 wounded
warriors at Fort Gordon on December 17th. The cost was $900.00. December 19th the family hosted a Christmas party for 75 children. They
provided toys, clothes and food. The cost was $4025.00. December 21st was the general membership meeting with the Christmas social. December 31st
the New Year Eves party was held. We had 66 to attend it.

On January 15th Arnold Stein, Bill Nicholas, Jim Nelson and Jim Whelan attended the assembly at Cedar Ridge Elementary School to present the winners of
the Americanism contest their awards. January 21st the Legion Family had 32 members to attend the National Commander's dinner at Post 205.
The Legion Family gave him a shirt and cap.

The Legion Family held a Super Bowl party at the Post on February 7th. They had 86 to attend it. The Legion Family hosted the monthly veterans group
from Day Treatment and the Blind Unit form Uptown VA on February 8th. They had 46 to attend. The cost was $400.00. Harry Rowland,
Arnold Stein, Oral Venable, Cecil Holloway, Jim Whelan and Jim Nelson volunteered for it. February 16th the Legion Family hosted the
Uptown VA veterans. They had 44 veterans to attend the luncheon. The cost was $450.00. February 21st the Legion Family held an
''Four Chaplain'' Ceremony. They had 48 to attend the ceremony.
